AAPI Therapy
Culturally Affirming Mental Health Care
Culturally affirming and responsive therapy for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) seeks to understand you and your concerns within your social and cultural contexts.
This approach is respectful of your worldview, supports your connection to cultural strengths, and recognizes the impact of racial stress and trauma on your well-being.
You may be navigating issues related to identity, relationships, school or work performance, self-esteem, or being an immigrant or child of immigrants.
I provide a space for you to safely explore the challenges you face without the assumption that your life experiences will fit dominant cultural norms.
Racial Trauma & Healing
While anti-AAPI racism and hate crimes are nothing new, our communities experienced a marked increase in these incidents during the pandemic.
The widespread and graphic media coverage of these incidents raised awareness, but was also traumatic for many of us to see and hear. If you are feeling sad, anxious, fearful or hypervigilant, you are not alone.
Culturally affirming therapy acknowledges and bears witness to these harms, while also helping you to connect with your resiliency and (re)establish a sense of safety in the world.
